Jebel Ali Container Status: What Every Milestone Means
What each Jebel Ali container status means, from landed and to town through empty return, holds and NO DATA.
Overview of the Jebel Ali Container Journey
At DP World Jebel Ali Port, container statuses represent physical movements and operational handovers between ocean vessels, terminal handling equipment, customs inspection yards, and road transport hauliers.
1. Discharge & Yard Stacking: LANDED FROM VESSEL
In Yard
The container has been offloaded from the vessel and stacked in the terminal yard (T1âT4). Port free storage time is measured from this discharge timestamp.
2. Yard Dwell & Clearance: STORAGE / HOLD
Document Check
The container is dwelling in the terminal storage yard. Ensure all documentation and e-tokens are finalized before the free storage period expires.
3. Gate Departure: TO TOWN
Gated Out
The laden container has moved out through the port gate on a transporter chassis for delivery. Port yard dwell concludes.
4. Empty Redelivery: MT FROM TOWN
Completed
The empty (MT) container has been returned to the DP World yard or designated container depot, generating a gate-in EIR receipt.
Troubleshooting "NO DATA" and Unrecognized Numbers
If your inquiry returns NO DATA, check the following common causes:
- Check Digit Typo: Use our ISO Container Validator to verify the mathematical check digit.
- Carrier Manifest Pending: Ocean carriers must submit electronic manifests to port systems before arrival. If the vessel has not berthed, status records may not be live.
- Different Port of Discharge: Verify whether the container was discharged at Khalifa Port (Abu Dhabi) or Sharjah Container Terminal rather than Jebel Ali.
