Container tracking questions for Jebel Ali and Khor Fakkan
Jebel Ali
1. How do I track a Jebel Ali container?
Enter your 11-character container number (for example MSCU1234567) in the tracking workspace. You can check one container or paste up to 300 at once. Results show status, terminal, vessel, arrival date, free-time expiry and move history.
Open the tracking workspace â2. What is the Jebel Ali Container Enquiry?
Container Enquiry is Dubai Trade's official online service for looking up a container's status at Jebel Ali. Container Tracer is a separate, independent tool that shows port status for many containers at once. It is not the official service.
Dubai Trade Container Enquiry vs an independent tracker â3. Can I track a container using only the container number?
Yes. Only the ISO container number is needed. You don't need a booking number, bill of lading number or login.
4. Why does my container show "NO DATA"?
Usually one of three things: the number was mistyped (the check digit catches most typos), the vessel hasn't arrived or the container hasn't been registered at the port yet, or the container was discharged at a different port such as Khalifa Port. You can set an arrival alert to be notified once a record appears.
Set an arrival alert â5. What does "LANDED FROM VESSEL" mean?
The container has been discharged from the ship and stacked in the terminal yard. Port free time is counted from this discharge date.
6. What does "TO TOWN" mean?
The laden container has left Jebel Ali Port on a truck towards the consignee. Port storage stops, and the shipping line's detention time runs until the empty container is returned.
7. What does "MT FROM TOWN" mean?
The empty (MT) container has been returned to the port or the shipping line's depot after unloading. This closes the detention cycle.
8. How do I know which terminal handled my container?
The terminal (T1, T2, T3 or T4) is shown in the results table and in the container's detail view.
Jebel Ali terminals guide â9. How are Jebel Ali storage charges calculated?
Under DP World's published tariff, standard import containers get 10 free days counted from the discharge date. After that, storage is indicatively AED 82/164 per day (20ft/40ft) for the next 5 days, then AED 153/306 per day. IMDG class 8 cargo gets 3 free days, IMDG class 5 gets none, and consignees importing 30 or more containers on one B/L or voyage get 14 days (20 days for 100 or more). These figures are indicative: confirm current charges with DP World.
Indicative storage charges and free days â10. What is the difference between storage and demurrage?
Port storage is charged by DP World for keeping the container in the terminal yard beyond port free time. Demurrage is charged by the shipping line for using its container inside the port beyond the line's free time. Detention is the line's charge once the container is outside the port.
Storage vs demurrage vs detention â11. Can I get notified when my container arrives?
Yes. Add containers to arrival alerts and choose email, browser notifications, or both. You get one notification when each container first appears at the port.
Arrival alerts and watchlists â12. Does Container Tracer replace Dubai Trade?
No. Container Tracer only shows status. Customs declarations, delivery orders, payments and e-token bookings are done on the official Dubai Trade portal at dubaitrade.ae.
13. Is Container Tracer affiliated with Dubai Trade or DP World?
No. Container Tracer is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by or endorsed by DP World, Dubai Trade, Dubai Customs, JAFZA or any port authority.
Disclaimer and independence notice â14. What if my container is not at Jebel Ali?
Choose Khor Fakkan on the tracking page and run the same numbers. A box with no record at Jebel Ali is sometimes already in the yard at Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT) or at SAJAA. Arrival alerts follow the port you selected.
Open tracking on Khor Fakkan â15. How accurate is the tracking information?
Results reflect the port record at the time of the last check. They are cached, and you can refresh a container from the workspace. Data can lag or be incomplete, so confirm with DP World or Dubai Trade before acting on releases or charges.
Data and methodology âKhor Fakkan
1. How do I track a container at Khor Fakkan?
Enter the 11-character container number in the tracking workspace, or paste up to 300. If the container is still in a Gulftainer yard, you see terminal KCT or SAJAA, the discharge, and charges in AED.
Open the tracking workspace â2. What is the difference between this tracker and Gulftainer's form?
Gulftainer's page checks one container at a time. This tracker batches numbers, caches today's result, and can alert you when a container appears in the yard. The search leaves the date blank.
Gulftainer enquiry versus this tracker â3. What does CONTAINER NOT IN THE YARD mean?
Gulftainer has no current yard record for that full import container. It may not have arrived, it may already have left, or the number may be wrong. This tracker shows that as NO DATA and does not invent a discharge from an old list.
4. Why is the arrival time joined back together?
On SAJAA results Gulftainer's HTML splits the arrival clock on the colon, so the label holds the date and hour and the value holds the minutes. This tracker rejoins them into one time.
5. Which charges are flat, and which change with the date?
On the samples checked, STORAGE was the line that changed as the container stayed in the yard. TLUC, TIF, CRC and DPC PER BOE stayed flat. The total is its own line. A search leaves the date blank and shows today's figures. Confirm the current tariff with Gulftainer before you pay.
6. Do I need an account?
No. Status checks work without an account. Alerts need a verified email. A free account adds watchlists and a dashboard. An account is shared with Container Tracer, but each port keeps its own watchlists, history and alerts.
7. Is Container Tracer affiliated with Gulftainer?
No. It is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by or endorsed by Gulftainer or Sharjah Port Authority.
